What is the Imaginarium?
The Imaginarium is a calm welcoming space for dreaming, chilling out, and imagining, with evocative sounds of a growing garden.
Enter through a time travel portal, and discover creative stations around the room, each with a different prompt for visioning, writing, drawing that invite stepping into alternative perspectives, offering multiple doorways into a grounded imagination process.
There are cushions, ambient sounds, a drawing mural in the centre of the room, and beautiful artworks prompting questions, reflections, and curious writings.
Creative stations in the Imaginarium include
Time travel portal - time travel into a future of your deep longing. What do you see, smell, hear, or feel 10 years into the future? Capture the feeling of this world with pictures, words or story. (Inspired by Rob Hopkins, Transition Towns)
What if - add to our board of ‘what if…’ questions. Try a ‘what if…’ coat hanger on for size. Suspend disbelief, imagine what things might be like if it happened. Imagine how it came into being. Create a story, poem or pictures to illustrate. And then ask ‘Why not? What next?’
I am poem- inhabiting the perspective of another being – eg. tomato, bee, mycelium, river, cloud – and follow the writing prompts.
Letter from Gaia- Gaia is writing you a personal letter. Tune in and start writing as if Gaia is holding the pen. (Drawn from The Work that Reconnects, Joanna Macy)
Words of the future - take a word of the future that speaks to you and write a story or create an image that brings that word to life. (Drawn from Eirenikon: Dictionary of a re-imagined culture, Annie March.)
Create the sounds of a growing garden/food forest - musical instruments for participants to play to create ambient sounds.
governance is not static
governance is syncing ourselves to this pattern
to letting my bones sink into the rhythms
of how this patch of earth
moves and shapes and flows
